Green Point CPUT Cricket Club, a proud club for senior and
junior cricketers.
A Proud Club
Our club has a proud history of being one of the top clubs
in Cape Town. The Club was founded back in the 1890s and
is one of the oldest clubs in South Africa. It is situated
in the beautifully picturesque area of the Green Point common
and is a neighbour to the new World Cup soccer stadium.
We have a long history of having members from all races,
cultures and backgrounds. We are proud that we were the
first "white" cricket club in Cape Town to open
its doors to members of all races.
Fantastic Facilities
We have fantastic facilities which include four grass nets,
three artificial nets and three playing fields which are
among the best you will play on. We have an excellent coach
in Wayne Myers, who is a provincial age group coach.
Practices and Matches
Senior practice days are on Tuesdays and Thursdays from
5:00pm till 7:00 pm,
after which you are welcome to a drink in the clubhouse.
We have four senior teams and the teams for the weekend
are announced on a Thursday after practice upstairs in the
bar area. The 1st and 2nd elevens play in two-day leagues
and the 3rd
and 4th elevens play 40 over per side one day games which
begin just after lunch.
We have a thriving junior section ages u7 to u15 with practice
days as follows :
U7-U9 – Mondays 4:00pm to 5:30pm
U10 – U15 Fridays 3:30pm to 5:00pm
New season commences Friday 5th October 2012
Join Up
Anyone is welcome to join up at any stage of the season
and we are always looking for new members, so dust off the
kit and come join us at a practice. Hope to see you soon.
